ALL HAIL THE KING OF ENGLISH FOOTBALL

Monday, March 1st, 2010

We love Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi, but 2010 will long be remembered as the year of our lord, Wayne Rooney.  He may not win the Champions League, or the Premiership, or the World Cup… but at this point no single player is more capable of winning them all.

In Rooney, we have witnessed the maturation of a pure striker in his prime. He is an archetype, breaking the game down to a balance of bullish force and complete fluidity.

CARLING CUP SEMI-FINAL IS A MANCHESTER DERBY

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

After a 3-0 blowout against Arsenal today, Manchester City are set to face Man United in the Carling Cup semi’s. This is the first time these two teams have been paired in Carling competition since City beat the Devils 4-0 in 1976.

Now that Tevez is healed up and scoring goals, City may not need to rely on a dramatic return from Robinho.

Also in the final four are Blackburn and Aston Villa. Blackburn overthrew Chelsea today in penalties. If City wins the Carling Cup, it will end a 33 year drought at the club.
