PREMIERE LEAGUE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: CHELSEA vs FULHAM

Fulham came out swinging today with a goal from Gera that went unanswered until Drogba equalized in the 73rd minute.  Chris Smalling conceded an own goal for Fulham, which gave Chelsea an undeserved 3 points on the day.  Gera’s goal was most certainly the highlight of the match.

PREMIER LEAGUE VIDEO HIGHLIGHTS: FULHAM vs TOTTENHAM

As Tottenham battle their way into the upper echelon with full confidence, Fulham are playing like a solid top 10 squad. Bobby Zamora, though excitable, is a gifted professional who seems to be player better and better as the season progresses. Clint Dempsey (shown above) is a legitimate playmaker. One can’t really think of Fulham and not take the American into consideration.

Today’s fixture ended 0-0, but there were plenty of great opportunities on both sides.  Dempsey had a beautiful upper-90 free kick that just barely found the crossbar.   Zamora and Duff both had some great opportunities as well.

Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp pulled Jermain “5 times” Defoe out after a few minutes of play. Crouch scored (not counted) off of a beautiful volley, reinforcing my prediction that he and Defoe are South Africa-bound. Fun game. Worth getting up at 5am in LA to see live.

WHAT A GAME FOR FULHAM!!! Dempsey’s squad were on fire today. It started with an early goal from Danny Murphy and continued with a performance of the highest caliber. Bobby Zamora scored on a PERFECT Dempsey assist early in the second half.  If that weren’t enough, Zamora (MVP) set up Damien Duff for a 3rd goal in the 76th minute.  What a day.  It ended 3-0 for Man United’s 5th, and most decisive, loss of the season.

FULHAM PULL OFF A WIN AT SUNDERLAND

Monday, December 7th, 2009

The Fulham boys dominated this game, start to finish. Bobby Zamora played incredible offense for Fulham, though we hoped for a less hostile post-goal celebration. Dempsey had a couple scoring opportunities, but made himself more useful setting up plays from midfield. Yesterday was all about Zamora’s attack. Check it out…

A BIT OF RESPECT FROM MR ROONEY

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

Picture 15

Looking toward his June 12th opener against the US Men’s team, Wayne Rooney regards US internationals Clint Dempsey and Landon Donovan as two world-class competitors who will give England a run for their money.

In 1950, the US squad became the first team ever to beat England in World Cup competition. A win for the US in June would be an equally massive upset. We’re dealing with the most gifted (and cohesive) English squad in decades. While critics accuse the Brits of always expecting to win the World Cup, they seem to be making a fairly convincing argument this time around. Rooney is scary. Defoe is scary. Gerrard, Lampard, Terry, etc etc…

To USMNT’s credit, the world watched us take a fully-stacked Spain to pieces in the Confederations Cup. We have finally achieved wild card status. If we can beat Algeria and Slovenia and lose to England, we face Germany in the round of 16. If we beat all three teams, we have the pleasure of facing a second place finisher in the round of 16. I digress. Our primary goal at the moment is getting Onyewu and Davies (and Jermaine Jones, perhaps?) back to 100% fitness.

Rooney is being a gentleman. He may not be doing any nut-stomping in South Africa, but he is a scrapper for life. Check out this vid from March.

USMNT PLAYER PROFILES: CLINT DEMPSEY

Clint Dempsey

America’s favorite rapper/footballer is having an incredible year.

Dempsey’s 3 Confederations Cup goals helped change the course of American soccer history. He also had two game winning goals in the World Cup qualifiers against Cuba and Barbados last year. A former MLS “Rookie of The Year,” Dempsey continues to represent at Fulham, most recently racking up goals against Chelsea and Liverpool in a season that appears to be gaining in momentum. (more…)
