REAL MADRID vs DEPORTIVO LA CORUNA

Ronaldo served the first half of a 2-match ban as Real Madrid took on Deportivo La Coruña.  Despite Madrid’s mythic stature in La Liga, they hadn’t beaten Deportivo once in 19 years.  Granero opened up the scoring, but it was Guti’s classy playmaking and Benzema’s game winning goals that broke the curse at La Coruña.

Good game, 3-1 to Real.

GUTI SPEAKS OUT ON REAL TROUBLES

The spanish midfielder has opened up publicly about his problems with Real Madrid, set to be broadcast this Sunday on Spain’s Intereconomica TV.

Apparently, Guti disapproves of team President Florentino Perez and manager Pellegrini. According to Goal.com, he also believes that foreign players don’t “understand the values of Real Madrid.” While the interview could easily put an end to the veteran’s career at Madrid, he’s been there long enough to make a few good points. People will undoubtedly listen and Pellegrini’s future at the club will be further jeopardized.

Guti’s point about understanding the value of Real Madrid is something to ponder. He rose through the club’s youth development system and has seen most of the world’s greatest talent come and go. He’s seen Madrid through unrivaled success and abject failure. Madrid’s dependency on celebrity imports probably wouldn’t be under such scrutiny if Ronaldo were fit to play, but you can’t fault a single star for a team’s innumerable flaws. There is more to this problem than a few firings can solve. What los Blancos need is a unifying leader.
